Embedded Computing modules
Computing and AI "at the Edge"
Insight SIP’s Modules all include one or more radios. However the microprocessors on board these devices have evolved significantly beyond those included in the early days of IOT. The latest generation of devices have microprocessors and memory capacity that have capabilities that go far beyond the requirements of managing the radio and reading data from peripherals.
It is now therefore possible to carry out significant computing tasks on our wireless modules. These can enable a number of applications, such as
- Data processing at the front end to reduce data flow to central systems
- Local decision-making, to enable low latency and robust applications
- Memory and processing heavy applications, such as CODECs
Whilst there is not a precise definition of which modules offer “Embedded Computing” capability – they all do to an extent – the modules below represent the most capable devices in this category.
The features that enable embedded computing can be as follows:
- Very fast processors
- Dual core devices with seperate applications and radio processors
- Devices with dedicated AI accelerator capability built in
